NCEAS Working Groups
Analysis and synthesis of results of studies carried out over three decades by the Amboseli Elephant Research Project in Kenya
Project Description
This proposal is for NCEAS support to a Working Group to analyse, synthesize and present an extensive body of knowledge on the population of elephants in Amboseli National Park, Kenya, based on a perspective of three decades of uninterrupted study of known individuals. The results of these studies will increase knowledge of elephant biology in the context of general paradigms of long-lived, highly intelligent and social species. It will also provide information fundamental to the conservation of elephants throughout their range.
